Let the countdown begin!!

Today I am 37 weeks and 5 days pregnant.  I had a routine ultrasound at my midwife appointment and got to see my beautiful baby boy. We weren't able to get many good photos since he was all scrunched up but it was still an amazing experience to get to see him again before little Eli makes his appearance.

Here are a couple pics from today:

you can't see much but it's still so exciting and I thought y'all would like to see them! My due date is July 15th.

We're enjoying our new place a lot - though the unpacking is going sloooooooowwwwwwly, you'd think with a baby coming "any day now" I'd have a fire under me to get all of these boxes unpacked, but I just don't. I'm not sleeping much these days (preparation for the baby coming, I guess!) and have been up most nights with contractions so I'm really tired during the day.

I finally have my computer all set up and connected so I should be able to get caught up on my blog before little Eli is born... fingers crossed!! I'm working like crazy to get the 30 Days of Simply SLR eclass up and running -  if you've registered for it you should get an email from me either today or tomorrow, if you've paid for the class but haven't completed your registration please make sure you do so today. That is the only way you will have access to the class.

I just can not believe that the month of July begins tomorrow!!

A post for my family

My family has all been asking for pictures of our new place, and since I can't figure out how to load pics from my cell phone to my facebook page (I know, I know, how lame is that right?) I thought I'd post a few here.
Since I still have boxes everywhere all you get are a few cell phone pics :) I'll post better ones once we get unpacked.

Things I love about this house:
Big fenced in yard in the back and cul de sac in the front for kids to play
Bright and sunny inside
Fans in every room
Flat top stove
Big pantry
Huge closets
Great location outside of the city in a better school district but not too far from anything.

Here are a couple of pics from our old place:

Moving forward

I'm sitting here in our new place and I honestly could not be happier. This place is so bright and open and the space feels just right for our growing family.
Everything has worked out just as easily and as smoothly as it possibly could have, we had lots of help loading and unloading the tuck, the kids are away at a friends house so I can get lots of unpacking done today. We have four bedrooms here and a nice big yard, we're out of the city but things are all close by.

Thank you to everyone who has left comments, tweets and emails I have such awesome friends. I'll post pics as soon as I can.

I am so very blessed

I am so very blessed.

I got up this morning and did some yoga for the first time since we had to leave our house, instead of waking up and wishing I could just push the eternal snooze button.

We got the green light to start looking for a new place to live, more permanent than the place we're staying now, I was able to go look at a house this morning and loved it. The landlords are such a nice couple and the house is bright with a big fenced in back yard. I'm not getting my hopes up but my confidence is definitely boosted... it only takes one.

I'm sitting here listening to my kids play with the neighbors... and there's nothing like a bunch of giggling girls to make a mama feel happy.

An update

Thanks to everyone who left a comment on my previous post. I appreciate all of the prayers and well wishes that have gone up on behalf of my family.
Our house was significantly damaged bybthe tree coming through our roof and was further damaged by a severe storm that came through on Saturday night. However, miraculously enough none of our things have been ruined during this whole ordeal. We're still waiting on an estimate from the contractor on how long these repairs may take but considering the ammount of structural damage to the house it will likely be several months before the house is livable again. It's at moments like these that we are thankful to just be renting!

We're settling into a temporary house, it's very nice (think four bedroom vacation house and you're close)and cozy. The kids have enjoyed exploring the huge yard and I've spent hours on the front porch swing crochecting my little guys baby blanket, playing scrabble on my iPad and generally chilling out. I'm actually enjoying having no cable TV (though I'm so glad we were able to bring our xbox with us!) and no computer.

We are still waiting to find out how long we will be at this house and if we will need to find s other house sooner or later. My husband's employer is responsible for our living arrangements so it's all a little more complicated. We're also praying that our little guy stays put for a few more weeks. I'm due in just four weeks! I've had our last two children earlier than that by about two weeks... Hopefully little Eli will be able to wait until life is more settled before he makes his debut!

At times like these that I have to learn to be still and take life moment by moment.

A post of thankfulness

It was just another ordinary night. We came home from VBS, I fed my kids a snack, we got into our jammies and snuggled on the couch while watching a little bit of TV before bed. The ticker on the TV said that a storm was coming, just like it has every week for the last few months. We were just shutting down our computers as the thunder started to get louder when there was a huge crash and suddenly a piece of our roof was on the floor and one of the trees from behind our house was poking through. The kids freaked out, we texted a friend and they said "come on over." so we took the kids and camped out and waited for the storm to pass.

Today has been a crazy day, we met the contractors and the tree extractors and have had several conversations with our landlord today. The hubs and I have played phone tag with the question "so what's next?" all day long. But I wanted to take a moment here to express my thankfulness... so here goes.

I am thankful that we spent the night camped out at our friends house and not at the hospital, or nervously wondering if the rest of our roof was going to cave in.

I am thankful for wonderful friends who have graciously opened their house to us and given my kids a happy stress-free day.

I am thankful that none of our stuff appears to be damaged.

I am thankful that the power didn't go out long enough to spoil the food in the fridge.

I am thankful that our landlord has been so kind and worked quickly to get repairs started.

I am thankful that this happened before our baby was born and not shortly after.

I am thankful that most of the baby stuff is still packed up so I won't have to re-pack it.

I am thankful that the people my husband works for have been so helpful and undrstanding so far.

I am thankful that so farI have had a lot of peace in this overwhelming set of circumstances.

I am thankful that I have an iPad now so I can blog from the Library.

So, I may be a bit scarce for the next week or two...but I'll be back soon.

Photography Challenge: New

This week's theme is "NEW"  and there are so many things that I could post photos of... all the new stuff for the new baby is one of the things I've thought about posting, but I don't really have any good photos of that. I have this song in my head now (oh baby it's a new day...) and I'd love to take a photo for it... but I was up all night with contractions and not feeling terribly creative at the moment. So here is my shot for today's challenge: my oldest and her "new" skill - swimming. At the beginning of summer I outlawed face masks because I wanted my oldest especially to learn to swim with her face in the water... after weeks of complaining she finally gave it a try and is doing brilliantly.

I've got a photo shoot coming up... my first portrait session in a while, so I was scouting out a couple locations. These were more natural settings. I'm still not 100% happy with these locations. Shooting in a field(ish) type space can be really difficult if the light isn't just right.

photo shoot location test 1

location 1
I took a drive with the fam tonight to test out some locations around the Augusta/Evans area for an upcoming photoshoot. I got some super-cute pics of the kids that I thought I'd share...

The one above was taken at a local grocery store and edited in PSE7 most of the ones below were taken at a nearby church and aren't edited.

I really need to work on my editing skills!! This quick touch-up below is not what I'd like it to be... any suggestions?! I'll be linking up these shots for Touch-up Tuesday at Paper Heart Camera.

Touch Up Tuesday's at the Paper Mama

I found another awesome location - it's the side of a local auto-repair shop. I just adore the corrugated blue metal walls and the yellow thingamajigs add an awesome pop of color... if I can just compose the image correctly so that the a/c fans don't show!
